Sizing and understanding scale is a common blunder by the homeowner when selecting home lighting on their own. Lighting is not as straight forward as one may believe, differnt conditions per model can drastically shift whether the size of fixture is correct for the intended install location.
First, when selecting a ceiling fan understanding wet rated, dry dated, and damp rated is key. Wet rated fans can withstand direct moisture and rain, damp rated are more suited to handle humidity and moisture in the air, and dry rated fans should be only used within places like living rooms, bedrooms, and other locations where there is not a moisture concern. Second is understanding ceiling height in comparison to the downrod, sold seperately if your ceiling is greater than 8.5 ft. - 9 ft.
Today, every new home and light fixture should be designed to support LED light bulbs. Tube lights, fluorescent lights, and other types of lighting that use a ballast are not always configured for plug-and-play LED replacements. LED light bulbs are highly efficient and provide bright, high-quality, clean illumination. In many cases, incandescent bulbs are no longer manufactured due to environmental regulations.
Landscape lighting is the strategic use of outdoor lighting to enhance the beauty, safety, and functionality of your property's exterior. It highlights architectural features, walkways, gardens, trees, patios, and driveways while improving visibility after dark. Modern landscape lighting systems typically use energy-efficient LED fixtures that provide long-lasting performance, lower energy consumption, and minimal maintenance. Whether installed for security, curb appeal, or outdoor entertaining, professionally designed landscape lighting adds value and allows you to enjoy your outdoor spaces long after the sun goes down.
One of the easiest sizing methods is to add the length and width of the room (in feet). The total equals the recommended chandelier diameter in inches. For example, a dining room that measures 12 feet by 14 feet should have a chandelier approximately 26 inches wide. When installing the fixture, hang the bottom of the chandelier 30 to 36 inches above the dining room table.
